Ex Global portrays A-Reece as the bad guy responsible for The Wrecking Crew’s split

I’m sure by now all of you have watched Ex Global’s episode of the ‘Choppin It With Bhuda T’ podcast that premiered on Thursday 1 June 2023.

Ex Global portrays A-Reece as the bad guy responsible for The Wrecking Crew's split
Ex Global and A-Reece.

Now I must say that Ex Global really chopped it up, I mean he revealed a lot of things about ‘The Wrecking Crew’ and ‘Rubberband Gang’ that fans always wanted to know and he did so without holding back, so I really appreciated that.

Now without making this article too long, I just want to go over some key moments from Ex Global’s episode of ‘Choppin It With Bhuda T’ where the ‘The Real Confrontation’ rapper divulged some really interesting things.

Firstly, we got to find out that Jay Jody really did kick out A-Reece and the rest of his crew from his house in Melville, Johannesburg, pretty much leaving them homeless, allowing for Ex Global to pick up the pieces and get them accommodation at his own crib.

Now unfortunately, Ex Global and the whole crew later got evicted from his place as well because he was the only black tenant in his residential complex, and so the group was forced to go house-hopping until they were saved by George Lebese who allowed them to stay at one of his houses in Honeydew, Gauteng until they could get back on their feet.

Fast forward to when the crew is a bit more established, they moved back to Pretoria where things turned for the worse.

According to Ex Global, A-Reece solely made the decision to sign ‘1000 Degreez’ to ‘The Wrecking Crew’, which all the other members didn’t approve of and they mainly didn’t approve because it made no sense to add more guys to the group when the crew was not financially set up to accommodate more members.

‘The Wrecking Crew’ members were spending R40,000 on weed and R30,000 on lean without even paying rent, which is honestly ridiculous.

Ex Global also stated that with A-Reece bringing ‘1000 Degreez’ into the fold, what would actually stop all the members of ‘The Wrecking Crew’ from bringing their own friends to join the group, I mean at that point anyone could just join ‘The Wrecking Crew’.

So when ‘1000 Degreez’ joined the group, the entire crew really experienced financial problems because just thinking about it right, you had ‘The Wrecking Crew’ making the money they usually made, but now they also need to finance ‘1000 Degreez’, leading the crew’s expenses to increase substantially.

So eventually the crew got evicted from their spot in Pretoria as well, and they were forced to go hotel-hopping.

Now during this period, most of the members in ‘1000 Degreez’ were forced to leave ‘The Wrecking Crew’ because of their financial problems, and once the crew established themselves financially again, they got a house in the South, and this is the infamous mansion that a lot of fans thought the crew had bought, something which was obviously false.

Now before you proceed with reading this article, you can watch the official music video of ‘Tell Me What You Want’, The Wrecking Crew’s biggest song ever.

So with all the hype around the crew during this time, ‘1000 Degreez’ joined the group once again because the house was so big.

This caused a lot of tension and division in the house, eventually, two groups forming in the house where A-Reece, Wordz, MashBeatz, and 1000 Degreez were in one group, and they had already started calling themselves ‘Rubberband Gang’, busy recording music and shooting music videos.

The second group was made up of Flvme, Ecco the Beast, Mellow, and Ex Global.

Ex Global stated that A-Reece had convinced him that Flvme, Ecco the Beast, and Mellow had done him dirty to the point where he also stopped chilling with them, and with the crew being so divided, each group was forced to come up with their rent individually, whereas before they came up with it collectively.

Now because Flvme, Ecco the Beast, and Mellow refused to come up with the rent, it got to the point where A-Reece, Ex Global, Wordz, MashBeatz, and some of the members from 1000 Degreez decided that they were going to book themselves into an Airbnb for a couple of days so that they could sit and record some music whilst not being in the presence of Flvme, Ecco the Beast and Mellow.

They didn’t inform the other guys that they were leaving and they also took all the music recording equipment with them, which is honestly shocking to hear and really foul on their part.

After leaving without saying a word to the other guys, Flvme, Ecco the Beast, and Mellow also took it up themselves to leave the house entirely whilst leaving all the doors and windows open so that the property of the guys who left earlier could potentially get stolen, and honestly, I don’t blame them for that, I mean they were wronged in a major way.

Fast forward a few days later when A-Reece, MashBeatz, Wordz, and Ex Global returned back to the house, Flvme, Ecco the Beast, and Mellow returned as well to collect some of the music they had recorded.

The split was made official during this encounter and both groups ended up going their separate ways, they didn’t see each other from there on out.

After the split happened, Rubberband Gang went on to do their own thing but they encountered problems of their own as well.

Ex Global told a story of when he had to leave the house for two months to sober up, and when he returned back to the house, he found A-Reece’s girlfriend leaving with a huge basket of laundry.

Ex Global found it strange that why would you need to leave with so many clothes, so fast forward a few days later, Ex Global mentioned that he saw A-Reece, MashBeatz, and A-Reece’s DJ have a lot of private meetings which he wasn’t a part of, and he found it weird because he was out of the loop as to what was actually going on.

He eventually had a conversation with A-Reece about getting a new house for the group, where A-Reece told Ex Global to sort out the paperwork, but a day later Ex Global states that a huge truck pulled up to collect A-Reece’s furniture, leaving him confused because he had just had a conversation with A-Reece the day before.

Now in order to get clarity as to what was actually going on, Ex Global asked MashBeatz what was happening and he was informed that A-Reece, MashBeatz, and A-Reece’s girlfriend were all moving to a house in Bryanston, Gauteng, as only the three of them.

Ex Global respected MashBeatz a lot for actually communicating what was happening considering that A-Reece didn’t say a word to him.

Now with A-Reece leaving, it was essentially the end of ‘Rubberband Gang’. I mean Ex Global stated that A-Reece just left without saying a word to anyone and left his day-one homies from ‘1000 Degreez’ to literally fend for themselves.

Now what happened next was that A-Reece ended up doing his own thing and so did Ex Global.

Ex Global ended up downgrading and getting a house in Kibler Park, Johannesburg, with his girlfriend and Krish.

Ex Global also stated that A-Reece couldn’t help out Krish R1,500 to pick up his bed in Pretoria and deliver it to Kibler Park, leaving him kind of helpless and having Ex Global’s older brother to help him out.

Eventually, MashBeatz and A-Reece had a fallout of their own, leaving Ex Global to decide which individual he’s going to side with.

Unfortunately, Ex Global didn’t want to choose any sides but because he was still talking to MashBeatz, A-Reece and Jay Jody ended up cutting him off completely, which pretty much leaves us in the position we are in currently.

Essentially, that is how both crews ended and it is sad and crazy how everything turned out.

Ex Global also did mention that everyone in the crew has pretty much reconciled and made up except for one person being A-Reece.

Not saying that it was his intention to do so, but Ex Global did kind of paint A-Reece as the bad guy in certain situations.

I mean he stated that A-Reece told Wordz to drop out of university, which sounds crazy and I guess A-Reece didn’t have the foresight to see something like this playing out the way it is currently, hence him going by the name, ‘The Big Hearted Bad Guy’.

Either way, I appreciate Ex Global finally coming out and divulging what happened with the two crews.

But it is just disappointing to hear what really happened, I mean these guys lived together, chilled together, and formed genuine relationships, but I guess nothing lasts forever.

I think after this Ex Global interview on the ‘Choppin It With Bhuda T’ podcast, A-Reece will ever want to reconcile with any of the crew members, which is disappointing as well.
