Lucasraps and Blxckie open up about their relationship

Over the past year, there has been speculation about whether Blxckie and Lucasraps are still cool with each other ever since breaking onto the scene back in 2020.

Now as we all know, these two young rappers made a huge breakthrough with the song “Big Time Sh’lappa”, and with Blxckie releasing his debut album “B4now”, well his career just took off whereas, with Lucasraps, his career has come with a lot of scrutinies.

You can watch the official music video of “Big Time Sh’lappa” below;

Both Lucasraps and Blxckie’s come-ups have both been well documented, where it has been established that Lucasraps put Blxckie on, where they both joined ‘M4 Entertainment’ in regards to management and a distribution deal.

But fans and listeners alike noticed that there was a rift between the pair as soon as Blxckie’s career took off after releasing his debut album.

Now Lucasraps and Blxckie tried to silence these rumours by collaborating with each other once again on Lucasraps’ deluxe version of his debut album “031 To The World”, but despite doing so, things between them still seemed off.

Blxckie addressed the situation in episode 8 of the hip hop podcast, “Choppin It With Bhuda T”, where he went on to say;

It is actually deep you know, I’m not trying to like really dive into it but I can give you like a quick synopsis. So yeah, ‘Big Time Sh’lappa’ happens and the album happens and within that whole period I’m running around doing launches, I’m doing interviews back and forth, everything is going crazy and I don’t really see Lucasraps as much anymore, you are not in the studio as much because now it is time to run around.

Blxckie continued;

So Lucasraps decides that he is going to go jump into an actual record deal, you know what I mean, because the original deal he had is the same one I’m in right now, just management and distribution. So he moved out of this house and got the Def Jam Africa deal and then he dropped the album.

The host, Zingah, then asks Blxckie whether he was on Lucasraps’ album, and the “Uppity” rapper replied;

I wasn’t on the album unfortunately but I was on the deluxe, it was a little bit tricky at the time. I can’t tell you why, not because there is a thing between us, but I also don’t know what happened at the time. We’ve had a few conversations about it but there is no real reason for it and that is why to this day, it’s like still a little bit touch and go, like we are cool, we link up with each other and stuff.

Now in regards to what Blxckie said, Lucasraps addressed the situation as well when he went on to say;

So I’m pretty much going to break the silence for my side, so yeah how do I put this? I don’t have beef with Blxckie, when I see him, I rock and tap him up, but it is something I told him where it was like, yo bro, imagine we are ants in a container right, I’m a red ant and you’re a black ant, then someone shook the container and we started getting angry with ourselves, so that is the best way I can explain it.

Today it is like I learnt my lesson and I went my way and that is why I have this and I’m at peace right now. When I left ‘M4 Entertainment’, I’m not the type of person to talk bad on things but that really did hurt me, I was really hurt. I asked Blxckie for a verse on ‘Ye x4’ and he said he’s gonna think about it, and he’s still thinking about it, yeah so like you know what I mean, I won’t lie to you on some G sh!t, I was hurt, you feel me? But I also had to learn that sometimes you get punched in the face but you have to get up, that is only for me to understand that yo, that wasn’t for me and stuff that is coming for me it’s gonna be crazy, you understand what I mean.

So I mean I have no hate to nobody, I went through the frustration part, I went through the angry part and I’m at the point where it’s like there was so much damage done that we can only either build from it or let go, and I’m just at the phase of not gonna push to build.

Now what I made from this situation is that things turned sour as soon as Blxckie released his album “B4now”, as well as Lucasraps leaving ‘M4 Entertainment’ to join Def Jam Africa.

I mean from Blxckie’s point of view, he was doing a lot of networking once the album dropped, and considering that the Covid-19 lockdown ended towards the end of 2020, the homies weren’t chilling together as much as they used to.

So it is reasonable to expect the disconnect between them, plus Blxckie made mention of Lucasraps releasing “031 To The World” in retaliation to his (Blxckie’s) debut album, pretty much saying that he went into it with the wrong mindset and dropped the album with the wrong energy.

Now in regards to Lucasraps, he made mention of not beefing with Blxckie but he felt hurt about his relationship with him when he left ‘M4 Entertainment’. I mean he stated that he asked Blxckie to be on ‘Ye x4’, and he’s still waiting for a response from him to this day.

So even though he is not willing to push to board with him currently, he still has a lot of love for him. Now this response from Lucasraps showed a lot of maturity from his side, and I can only respect that.

Now the way I see it, I think this split just comes down to their egos. I mean Blxckie had no intention of being in Lucasraps’ shadow, whereas Lucasraps on the other hand wanted to continue boarding with Blxckie in hopes of elevating his own career.

Now thankfully it is not beef and these two don’t hold any animosity towards each other, so hopefully we can see them once again drop another genuine hit.

And with that being said, you guys let me know your thoughts on this.

What do you make of Blxckie and Lucasraps going their separate ways? And do you want them to reunite on a genuine level?
