{"id":68,"date":"2023-07-03T18:04:09","date_gmt":"2023-07-03T15:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/?p=68"},"modified":"2023-07-03T18:25:57","modified_gmt":"2023-07-03T15:25:57","slug":"fans-slam-a-reece-not-appearing-aka-mass-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/fans-slam-a-reece-not-appearing-aka-mass-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Fans slam A-Reece for not appearing on AKA&#8217;s \u2018Mass Country\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So recently we had the Slimes (A-Reece fans) going through arguments on Twitter because A-Reece did not make it onto AKA&#8217;s posthumous album, \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/music.apple.com\/za\/album\/mass-country\/1664064205\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mass Country<\/a><\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"520\" height=\"350\" src=\"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/A-Reece-in-Zambia.jpg\" alt=\"Fans slam A-Reece for not appearing on Mass Country\" class=\"wp-image-88\" title=\"Fans slam A-Reece for not appearing on Mass Country\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/A-Reece-in-Zambia.jpg 520w, https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/A-Reece-in-Zambia-300x202.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 520px) 100vw, 520px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A-Reece after landing at the KK International Airport in Zambia on May 27, 2022.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The tracklist for the album was released and it featured the likes of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/artist\/0R6GDPZ2Hrn2lF4svYJRkn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Thato Saul<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blxckie\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Blxckie<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Emtee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emtee<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sjava\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sjava<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nasty_C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nasty C<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nadia_Nakai\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nadia Nakai<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Yanga_Chief\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yanga Chief<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Khuli_Chana\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Khuli Chana<\/a><\/strong>, and a few other artists but obviously, the noticeable name that was is A-Reece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now a couple of weeks ago it was rumoured that A-Reece didn&#8217;t make it onto the album and the reason was said to be scheduling issues on both AKA and A-Reece&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So some of A-Reece&#8217;s fans alike are upset about this outcome because they were really expecting or hoping for the \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7Ky-WpupubI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Meanwhile In Honeydew<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 rapper to appear on \u2018Mass Country\u2019, but unfortunately things didn&#8217;t turn out that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So after the tracklist was released, two Twitter users sort of sparked the debate on Twitter creating the division amongst A-Reece&#8217;s fans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tweets in question go as follows;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A-Reece really messed up with that AKA feature, I&#8217;m sorry. There&#8217;s certain things in life you just can&#8217;t let slide by.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Another tweet by Twitter user Bohlale Matabog reads;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\ude02When we say that manager is unserious, people want to talk about &quot;love&quot;. When a AKA calls you several times for an album feature, you must make time. Now you&#39;re missing out on the most historic SA Hip Hop album because you were TOO BUSY getting high. Thato Saul even? Welele\ud83d\ude2d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/J3VbFLmw6Q\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/t.co\/J3VbFLmw6Q<\/a><\/p>&mdash; RUDE (@bohlale_matabog) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bohlale_matabog\/status\/1628031973162622978?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">February 21, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is understandable that one-half of A-Reece&#8217;s fans are disappointed and upset by him, whilst the other half understands that certain circumstances are just out of our control and that there is no point in dwelling on what could have been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The way I see this, AKA and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A-Reece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">A-Reece<\/a><\/strong> working together could have been a really nice moment for the South African hip-hop industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean, it&#8217;s AKA and A-Reece, you&#8217;ve got two of the greatest from this generation and the previous one, plus for the longest of times dating back to 2019, these two have had a back-and-forth about finally linking up and actually putting in work together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore I do sympathize with the individuals who are frustrated over this collaboration not taking place and I think AKA no longer being here with us just intensifies the situation even more, but at the same time, we can&#8217;t allow for a situation that none of us had control over to dictate how we feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AKA_(rapper)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AKA<\/a><\/strong> submitted the album knowing that A-Reece would not be on it, and when it all comes down to it, scheduling issues were the problem of both parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore to solely blame A-Reece for a circumstance that involved two individuals is kind of unfair and I feel as if most people feel the way they do because A-Reece is still with us and AKA isn&#8217;t, so it is easier to blame A-Reece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well I&#8217;m not trying to make excuses for A-Reece considering that he had years to make it happen, I mean if you have AKA reaching out to you for work, I think it is in your best interest to make time for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Therefore A-Reece and his entire team did drop the ball on this one, but I think it is best to not demand the music that could have been and rather enjoy the music that we have and what is still to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I mean \u2018Mass Country\u2019 was released on Friday 24 February 2023, and I think it is best to enjoy it for what it is.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So recently we had the Slimes (A-Reece fans) going through arguments on Twitter&#46;&#46;&#46;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":88,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[4],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"jetpack_featured_media_url":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/A-Reece-in-Zambia.jpg","jetpack_likes_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=68"}],"version-history":[{"count":11,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":90,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/68\/revisions\/90"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/88"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=68"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=68"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nsfas.net\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=68"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
